YPD: Officer assaulted while responding to call
Three people appeared in court Friday after they were all arrested in connection to an alleged incident that led a police officer to be punched in the face and kneed.
Judge Gregory Stewart referenced a report that stated Yuma police was called to a local trailer park on two occasions.
Christina Silvas and her son, Manuel Silvas, were accused of yelling and throwing rocks at neighbors, according to the report.
The third individual, Christopher Yanez, was arrested on two felony charges of aggravated assault against an officer.
Although Judge Stewart mentioned that it does not sound like Yanez was trying strike officers, he was allegedly trying to make his case heard as to why he shouldn’t be arrested.
Yanez’s bond was set at $15,000.
Manuel Silvas was arrested on two charges of aggravated assault against an officer and disorderly conduct for fighting.
He is accused of being physically combative against officers, according to the report Judge Stewart referenced.
His bond is set at $20,000.
Christina Silvas was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct for fighting and hindering prosecution.
She will be released from custody Friday night.
All three will appear back in Yuma Justice Court next Wednesday.
