Man rescued after paraglider gets caught in power lines

A man paragliding in the area of Bombay Beach, Calif. was rescued by authorities after becoming tangled in some power lines Thursday morning, fire officials said.

According to the Imperial County Fire Department, at around 8 a.m., the man was paragliding and misjudged the high voltage line. This led to his glider becoming caught for over half an hour.

Authorities said he was hanging over two to three feet off the ground and didn’t unbuckle himself in fear of being electrocuted.

Imperial County Fire Department from Niland arrived at the scene and confirmed with Imperial Irrigation District that the lines were high voltage before unbuckling the individual.

No medical attention was needed.
