Family looking to keep iconic Arizonan’s memory alive

When most locals hear the name Barry M. Goldwater, the first thing that pops to mind is the bombing range that sits on the edge of Arizona and Mexico. But the five term Senator was much more; serving in the Air Force during World War Two, Goldwater went on to become a businessman and an author all the while enjoying his hobby. To all who knew him, knew that he loved photography and it’s that very passion that his granddaughter Alison Goldwater Ross is now sharing with the world.

In total, more than 15,000 pictures were saved and digitally restored and come next year will be on display. Everyone will get to see the former Senator and Presidential Nominee’s love for Arizona. The pictures are said to range from family photos to landscapes some of which date back to 1909. On January 6, 2019 some of the photographs will be on display at the Scottsdale Museum of the West.
