A Yuma ‘Santa Claus’ supports Border Wall

If you were driving around Yuma, you might have seen Santa Claus a little early with a message for the President.

With the funding for the border wall in development, a man from Yuma dressed like the ‘Man in Red’ decided to share his view.

“I’m really embarrassed about our leadership.”

Lauren Heitzman is carrying a sign that reads “Build the Wall Now!” and is standing at the corner of 16th Street and Fourth Avenue.

“it’s because we’re so close to the border,” said Heitzman. ” I’m a registered Republican and I say it with embarrassment because I believe in the Republican party and the right side of the issues.”

Throughout the day Heitzman said he waves to drivers and hears disagreements.

“The thing that is surprising to me is the number of Mexican people who come by who are for the wall. The Democrats will tell you if you’re for the wall you’re ‘racist’, so I’m wondering ‘are they racist against Mexicans, I don’t believe so. It’s a security issue, not a race issue.”

Despite expressing his view, Heitzman actually plays Santa Claus for his local church two days of the year.
