Nativity scene in Massachusetts causing controversy
A nativity scene in Massachusetts is causing controversy for showing baby Jesus inside a cage and the three wise men separated from Mary and Joseph.
WBZ-TV reported the controversial scene was set up over the weekend at Saint Susanna’s Parish in Dedham, Mass.
The saying “Peace on earth”, accompanied by a question mark, appears above the scene.
Baby Jesus is in a black cage and the three wise men are cut off from Mary and Joseph by a fence-like barrier. The separation intends to represent migrant children being held at the southern border separated from their parents.
Church officials are sending a message about the ongoing immigration debate and how those at the border are being treated.
