Desert Cruisers Car Club hosts fundraiser for local Yuma family
On Saturday from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M., the Desert Cruisers Car Club and W.I.N.O. group is hosting a “Cruisin’ Yuma for a Cause” car and bike show.
The show is to raise money to help the Trujillo family with medical bills due to serious health issues.
The car show is located in the Sears parking lot at 3159 S. 4th Ave.
The event also includes live music, a 50/50 raffle, food, vendors and prizes.
The event is open to all cars, trucks and bikes of all types and years.
Anyone interested in participating can still register their vehicle for $25.
People as far as San Diego and Phoenix gathered to show support for the Trujillo family.
Lita Trujillo, who is benefiting from the money raised at the car show told me about how thankful she is for the help from the Desert Cruisers Car Club.
“It’s truly amazing to see what they do,” she said.
Her young daughter has been battling lymphedema which is a condition caused by blockage in the lymphatic system.
The main symptom is swelling in an arm or leg that may be accompanied by pain or discomfort.
The family has been bringing her back and forth from Phoenix to treat this condition and has recently been able to start treating her at the cancer center in Yuma.
Because the condition requires many sessions of treatment, the family has been feeling the blunt of the medical bill charges.
If you would like to help the family but cannot make the car show, the group will be at the Howard Johnson Inn at 3181 S. 4th Ave. after the event.
All the proceeds from the show will directly benefit the family.
