Four arrested after Border Patrol agents find gun, drugs in vehicle

Blythe Station Border Patrol arrested four individuals who attempted to smuggle methamphetamine and a stolen firearm near the Highway 95 immigration checkpoint early Thursday.

According to a press release, agents noticed two individuals walking around the checkpoint at around 1:10 a.m. The two individuals boarded a 1993 GMC Sierra, where two U.S. citizens were already on board. As they began to travel north on the highway, agents stopped the vehicle and discovered that the two individuals that were walking were a U.S. citizen and a Mexican national who was illegally present in the United States.
Authorities found 22 pounds of methamphetamine inside two backpacks along with a stolen 9 mm handgun inside the vehicle. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $66,600.

All four individuals, all ranging from ages 21 to 25, were arrested for transportation of a controlled substance.
