A local sports team needs your help to get to the championships

Yuma's own Hot Sauce football team is looking to win big, but they need help getting there

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - It's quickly become one of the nation's most popular youth sports programs. Organized by the National Football League, currently, there are over 1,600 flag football leagues with over a half-million athletes in the U.S.

The leagues are co-ed, and ages range between 5 and 17-years old. And, because it's part of the NFL, they can use its official logos.

In Yuma, the Hot Sauce football team has gained notoriety, bringing home four championships since its inception in 2014. The team's goal is to make it to the flag football super bowl set for 2022 in Los Angeles.

But, to get there, the team needs to win in June at a championship game in San Diego. And, to do that, they need help raising funds for travel and lodging.

So parents began offering carne asada plates and selling them for $12 a plate, or if someone purchases more than one, it's $10 a plate. Now, they're taking orders from now and on until June 4, 2021.

If you're interested in getting our players to the big game you can reach out to Justin Patane on social media or call him at 928-919-0371.
