Boarding fees waived for lost animals this New Years Eve
This New Year’s holiday the Humane Society of Yuma is waiving the boarding fees for lost animals.
Last year the Humane Society of Yuma were able to return 20 animals out of 35 back to their owners. They are hoping that waiving the boarding fees this year will create an incentive for owners to pick up their pets from the shelter if they do go missing.
The Humane Society of Yuma is asking its residents and visitors to think about their family pets this season. According to the shelter, New Year’s Eve is the second most common time that pets go missing due to the loud noises of gunshots and fireworks.
The HSOY urges the public to keep your pets safe this holiday weekend. Fees will be waived on January 3rd and 4th only. HSOY will waive the fees to return pets to their owners for animals that come in on December 31st through January 2nd. However, licensing fees still apply.
HSOY requires to bring identification photos and vaccine records for your animal when coming to the shelter to look for your pet. The shelter will be closed on Monday, January 1st, but will re-open on January 2nd for regular operating hours.
