Calexico senior loses life savings in identity theft

Calexico police are looking for two people whom they allege stole Calexico senior Jose Miranda Verdugo’s identity.

Police said Verdugo’s identity was stolen to set up several fraudulent credit accounts. Verdugo’s account was used to buy items at several local and Mexicali stores. Money was also taken from Verdugo’s account using Mexicali ATM machines.

Police said transactions of over $1,800.00 dollars were done at local stores at one time.

Verdugo said he lost over $14,000.00 dollars in life savings from his Wells Fargo bank account.

Verdugo would like the public’s help in identifying the suspects.

“I want to invite everyone to do me a favor to please report these people, to please call the police,” Verdugo said.
