13-year-old boy dies from alleged bullying attack in Moreno Valley
A teen in California died Tuesday, just over a week after a vicious fight at his middle school.
Los Angeles Times reports the 13-year-old boy whose head struck a concrete pillar after he was punched by another boy at a middle school where he died from his injuries.
Two 13-year-old boys were arrested in connection with the September 16 attack at Landmark Middle School in Moreno Valley.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the boy, Diego, had been the target of bullying before he was assaulted.
A video posted on Facebook shows a boy punching Diego who is then struck by a third person standing out of the frame.
Reports said Diego appears to hit his head on a concrete pillar as he falls to the ground. The assailant who threw the first punch strikes the boy again before running away.
Diego was taken to the hospital in critical condition, authorities said.
Los Angeles Times said the two suspects in the attack were arrested and booked into Riverside Juvenile Hall.
It was not clear what led to the attack.
Diego’s family will be donating his organs to ‘transform this tragedy into the gift of life for other children,” Sheriff’s Department officials said.
