FDA launches new ad to stop teens from vaping
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) hopes the release of their new anti-vaping ad will work its magic on kids who think vaping is safer than cigarettes, according to CNN.
In the new ad, Julius Dein, a street magician, and social media personality perform illusions with peoples vapes. His intention is to make it took like he’s turned the vapes into cigarettes.
The ad states, “It’s not magic, it’s statistics.”
Here are the statistics:
According to the FDA, as many as 80% of middle and high school students don’t think regularly smoking e-cigarettes is all that harmful. The FDA said as many as 80% of middle and high school students don’t think regularly smoking e-cigarettes is all that harmful.
On the other hand, e-cigarettes, just like regular cigarettes put people at risk for addiction and other health consequences.
Teens who do vape are more likely to start smoking cigarettes but the problem is the message isn’t getting through to kids. Last year, the FDA said vaping increased nearly 80% among high schoolers and 50% among middle schoolers since 2017.
The ad will run on networks including TeenNick, The CW, MTV, and ESPN. Along with other streaming and social media sites.
