Woman rushed to hospital after single-vehicle crash in Somerton
A woman was transported to the nearest hospital after spinning 180 degrees into a block fence on the south side of County 16th Street, according to Somerton Cocopah Fire Department ( SCFD ).
On Tuesday evening, SCFD received a call on Tuesday about a vehicle collision at County 16th and Valencia Street. Upon arrival, they found a 35-year-old woman in a silver hatchback on the side south side of County 16th Street.
According to SCFD , firefighters used manual tools to force the door open to gain access to the injured woman. When they gained access to the woman, she was moving but incoherent and unable answer questions appropriately. Somerton Cocopah Paramedics attempted to put her in full cervical spine immobilization but she became combative.
The paramedics noticed the woman had deformities to her right shoulder and clavicle. She was transported to the hospital as a level one trauma, SCFD said. That evening, the woman was flown to Phoenix to Barrows Neurological Center as a result of an intracranial head bleed.
