Yuma man sentenced to 7 1/2 years in prison for aggravated assault
A Yuma man who was arrested for allegedly shooting at his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend in a passing car in 2018 was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years in prison Tuesday morning.
Randy Muñoz, who was arrested on December 2018, entered a plea agreement on April 30 where he pleaded guilty to an aggravated assault charge.
He was previously charged with six felony offenses, that include two charges with attempted first-degree premeditated murder.
Back in December 2018, the initial investigation revealed an F-150 white truck rammed into a Jeep Cherokee near the I-8 Frontage Road and Fortuna Road in Yuma, according to the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office. This is the area where Munoz is accused of shooting both the driver, Justin Williams, and the passenger, Claudia Douglas in the vehicle.
