Everyday Heroes: Making Old McDonald proud
Business owner helps youth and community at the same time
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The cancellation of the Yuma County Fair was expected, but not welcomed. For some local kids, the fair's about more than entertainment, it also helps them prepare for their futures.
Groups like 4-H and Future Farmers of America use the event to auction off the animals raised and cared for by children. When the auction got called off, their future plans came to a standtill. Luckily, companies like Yuma's Unitechz Communications Technology LLC. have stepped in to save the day.
Unitechz just announced it's buying 80 of the pigs raised for auction. The purchase does more than protect the kids' investments, it will also help the greater community. The company will pay to have the pork processed, and it will donate the 2,000 pounds of meat produced to non-profits.
If you know a person, business, or organization who's making a difference in people's daily lives in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, we'd like to hear about them.
