H.L.S. Elementary’s tremendous donation to YRMC to help fight coronavirus
Challenging other local schools to #GIVEBACK
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY)- One elementary school in Yuma made a tremendous donation, which right now, even money can't buy.
As we’ve witnessed, cleaning supplies are a hot commodity but they're sold out in most stores.
H.L.S. Elementary school, part of the Crane School District, realized that since schools have been closed, teachers have tons of Clorox wipes and hand sanitizers left sitting in their classrooms.
The school gathered up about 400 containers of wipes and 300 bottles of hand sanitizer and donated them all to Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC).
Students and their families also made contributions to this stock of supplies at the beginning of the school year.
Principal, Trish Valentin, said, “[YRMC] was really so grateful and thankful because they don’t have enough supplies to clean. So just when I heard that I thought I really have to send a challenge out to all schools in the Yuma community to do the same thing. Go through their schools, try to find what they have that they can donate to the hospital, which is an area that really needs it right now. #GIVEBACK.”
