SAG-AFTRA and Hollywood studios agree to extend negotiations

(CNN, KYMA) - The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and Hollywood studios have agreed to extend contract negotiations for one more week.

Negotiations between SAG-AFTRA and the studios began in early February, even though the union's current contract doesn't expire until the end of June.

Some of the biggest issues being discussed include artificial intelligence and streaming residuals.

This marks the first contract negotiations since SAG-AFTRA went on strike for 118 days back in 2023.

If a deal is not reached by next week, the two sides will likely resume talks in June.

The studios also need to negotiate contracts with the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Directors Guild of America, with the negotiations between the WGA and the studios set to begin later this month.
