FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY: Tracking extended extreme heat through Friday

A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is EXTENDED until 8 pm Friday due to the ongoing extreme and dangerous heat across the Desert Southwest. It will also be humid, making it feel even hotter. Prepare for a hot and humid week!

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - An Extreme Heat Warning is EXTENDED once again until 8 p.m. FRIDAY for the entire Desert Southwest due to dangerously hot and also humid conditions.

Highs will be between 107-118 degrees, and overnight lows between 84-93 degrees. With the heat and higher humidity heat index levels will also be high.

A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is also EXTENDED until 8 p.m. Friday for the Desert Southwest for the hot and humid weather this week.

There is potential for heat-related illnesses, so it is important to practice heat safety at all times.

It will be another warm evening with very little to no relief from the heat. This type of weather is good to stay inside where it's cool. I am also tracking breezy conditions this evening with winds coming from the south and gusts between 10-20 MPH.

Today is National Watermelon Day, a good way to cool-off from the hot weather and humid weather.

The higher humidity is also back and will be sticking around this week. Dew points will stay elevated and in the 60s. It will be feeling hot and sticky!

A ridge of high pressure will stay in place keeping the Desert Southwest hot, and also filtering back higher humidity this week.

Rain and storm chances will favor toward the east, but outflow boundaries could bring in isolated storms and gusty winds.

A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is in effect and EXTEDNED until 8 pm FRIDAY for the Desert Southwest for the hot and humid conditions sticking around all week.

Breezy conditions is also possible through the week. Tracking cooler temperatures early next week.
