San Luis prepares for municipal elections, candidate packets now available
SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - As the City of San Luis gears up for its upcoming municipal elections, aspiring candidates can now pick up their candidate packets.
The electoral process will play a crucial role in determining the next representatives of the city, with three Council Member positions up for grabs, each carrying a four-year term set to expire in December 2028.
Interested individuals can obtain candidate packets at the City of San Luis Clerk's Office, located at 1090 East Union Street. The office operates Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
To qualify as a candidate in the city's elections, individuals must meet specific criteria, including:
- United States citizenship
- Age requirement of eighteen (18) years or older
- Status as a qualified Elector of the City of San Luis
- Residency in the City of San Luis or any area annexed to the city for at least one (1) year preceding the election
- Proficiency in speaking, writing, and reading the English language
- Absence of felony convictions until civil rights have been restored.
