Children food insecurity is a year-round issue

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Although many kids will be returning to school in the next couple of weeks, food insecurity is still a very big issue.

The Yuma Community Food Bank said they do see a decrease in the amount of families coming in to get donations due to their kids getting breakfast and lunch at school.

They are still in dire need of the essential food groups in the pyramid, especially dairy which contains many nutrients that help with kids' development and help them grow.

Yuma Union High School District offers free breakfast at all of its schools.

And some schools offer free or paid lunch.
