Empowerment Scholarship Account program impacts Yuma schools

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Empowerment Scholarship Account program offers help to parents who want to send their child to a private school but are unable due to financial burdens.

The money could be used to cover private school tuition, school supplies, tutoring, and many other items.

The program began in 2011 and the vouchers were offered to parents whose kids have disabilities, but recently, last year, the application for this program is now open to all students creating a huge increase in those interested in the money.

But the biggest concern is people receiving this money already have their kid in a private school and it will be costing taxpayers a lot of money.
