WEATHER ALERT: Excessive Heat Warning continues bringing dangerously hot temperatures

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - A strong high pressure will continue to dominate the overall weather pattern, bringing major to extreme heat risks to our region.

Breezy to windy conditions will be in the forecast through tonight and early tomorrow morning for the Desert Southwest where highest gusts could peak 20-35 MPH.

A Wind Advisory is in effect for the Southwest corner of Imperial County, which includes Ocotillo, and is in effect until 5 a.m. Thursday where 45 MPH gusts will be possible.

An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for the entire Desert Southwest until next Tuesday.

Remember excessive heat is very dangerous and could even be deadly, so make sure to know the signs and symptoms of heat-related illness and take action when necessary.

Make sure to take proper precautions by drinking plenty of water and staying in cool air-conditioned buildings.

High temperatures will rise into the one-teens for the latter half of the week.

Yuma could tie or break records for both daytime highs and overnight lows in the coming days.
