Excessive heat continues with hotter temperatures

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - The intense heat will continue as we will experience hotter temperatures today. An Excessive Heat Warning will go into effect for Yuma and Imperial counties at 10 A.M. this morning until 8 P.M. tonight for the dangerously hot conditions.

We will heat up quickly and we can expect afternoon highs to reach 112-115, just a few degrees below our record high of 118-degrees in 1958.

When we are experiencing temperatures like this, make sure we are taking the proper precautions to beat the heat. As heat is the number one weather-related killer in the country, it's recommended to reduce your time in the sun and stay in doors to keep cool.

Hot weather will continue for the rest of the week as we will remain above our seasonal average of 107 degrees. We will increase in monsoonal moisture this week which could increase more chances for showers and thunderstorms.
