News 11 Weather Authority: 1st spark of storms

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The 1st day of the Summer season is off to an active start for the Yuma area.

During the afternoon hours, a weak line of showers and thunderstorms have emerged from Sonora and Baja, Mexico; delivering some unmeasurable rain in the Yuma area.

There were some cases of brief and heavy downpours imbedded within the conglomerate of storm cells.

Otherwise, our daytime highs only peaked between 106 to 108 degrees.

More storm chances are expected overnight tonight and through much of the rest of the week ahead.
