Cooler and gusty winds for today
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - We are starting the morning with cool and calm conditions. Temperatures will be slightly cooler than yesterday as we will be in the mid and lower 70s, bringing our temperatures below normal our seasonal average is 79 degrees.
Winds will start to pick up this afternoon with wind speeds of 20 to 30 MPH. We can expect to see hazy skies along with poor air quality due to the gusty winds.
Wind & Blowing Dust Advisory for TODAY for Yuma and Southeastern California for strong winds with possible gusts up to 45 MPH. It will go in effect from 4 p.m. (MST) until 10 p.m. (MST) Arizona time and 3 p.m. (PST) until 9 p.m. (PST) California time. Blowing dust and sand is possible, so make sure to take extra precautions if you are going to be outdoors.
The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) has issued a High Pollution Advisory for the Yuma area today due to the gusty winds bringing a widespread of blowing dust you can read more here.
Stronger winds will develop come the evening as we will experience wind gusts near 40 MPH in some areas with possible gusts up to 45 MPH. Winds will calm down just a little bit later tonight, but winds will stay breezy through tomorrow.
Temperatures tomorrow will be slightly cooler as we get closer to the lower 70s. These cooler temperatures won't last long we do have a major warming trend starting this weekend, making our temperatures above normal by next week.
