Big changes arriving today

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - A lower pressure system will bring the Desert Southwest big changes in our forecast compared to what we've been experiencing all week.

To start the morning, temperatures are staying cool and we will see some clouds along with isolated and scattered showers by later this morning and early afternoon. We do have slight chances for some thunderstorms as well.

We will see even bigger changes in our temperatures as they will drop into the upper 60s and low 70s. That's nearly a 10 to 15 degree difference than what we felt all this week. Our average is 77 degrees so we are looking to be slightly below our normal for today.

Another change in our forecast is that it will be windy. Windy conditions especially for the Imperial Valley with gusts 30 to 35 MPH. Yuma's winds won't be as strong but still pretty breezy with wind gusts 20 to 25 MPH.

Winds will start to strengthen by the evening where Southwestern Calif. will be dealing with gusts near 40 MPH. Gusty winds will continue for both the Imperial and Yuma counties through tomorrow so be aware of blowing dust.

By tomorrow our temperatures will continue to drop as a strong cold front will bring even chillier temperatures. We can expect temperatures to be in the mid and upper 60s all through the weekend with a slow warming next week.
