Starting with morning showers and more sunshine by the holiday weekend

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) Starting off our News Year's Eve with some morning showers. We will continue to see clouds through the afternoon but will see more sunshine starting later in the evening with clear skies by tonight. Temperatures will remain below normal, the average for today is 68-degrees.

Throughout today we will remain breezy and will deal with gustier winds starting in the evening. The valley will be experiencing wind gusts 25- 40 MPH. Be aware of blowing dust if you are traveling for the holiday weekend.

We will end 2021 and ring in 2022 with chilly temperatures. Any New Year's plans for tonight, make sure to dress warm because temperatures will be in the mid-40s and upper 30s for tonight.

The upcoming holiday weekend we can expect more sunshine with clear skies. A cooling trend will remain in place and will be dealing with afternoon temperatures in the upper 50s. Warmer and drier conditions expected by next week.

With chillier morning and nighttime temperatures, there is a Freeze Watch for Imperial Valley and Southeast Yuma for Saturday night until 9 A.M. Sunday morning and this is for temperatures that could reach the lower 30s. Make sure to take care of your crops and pipes during these expected cold temperatures.
