News 11 Weather Authority: High heat break
June 7th, 2021
YUMA, Ariz., (KYMA, KECY) - A disturbance working it's way through from Southern California into the Interior West is generating some cloud coverage and atmospheric moisture.
That low is providing a nice high heat break for our area, with daytime high mostly landing in the high 90s through Tuesday.
We'll also get some decent wind coverage out of it, with gusts potentially set to exceed 30 miles per hour before we get to the end of this evening.
A strengthening high pressure ridge from South of the border will cause our mercury numbers to rise sharply.
By the end of this week, daytime highs will be close to 110 degrees, with even higher mercury numbers to come by the following week.
