News 11 Weather Authority: Breezy transition begins

May 19th, 2021

YUMA, Ariz., (KYMA, KECY) - Even though many of us eclipsed the triple digit daytime high mark, we're already starting a transition that will bring much cooler feelings to our area.

A large-scale upper level low is beginning to generate higher wind speeds that will likely culminate to 25 to 35 miles per hour within the next 2 to 3 days within our area.

The dry air presence won't do us any favors with impending fire danger, as the lower Colorado River Valley near Yuma will be under a Red Flag Warning on Thursday.

We already have a Wind Advisory in play through Midnight tonight in Western Imperial County, which includes Ocotillo.

The winds might be a concern, but the temporary temperature change will be welcomed.

By the time we reach Friday and Saturday, our daytime highs will only reach the mid to high 80s.
