News 11 Weather Authority: Windy days arriving
May 18th, 2021
YUMA, Ariz., (KYMA, KECY) - A high pressure ridge continues to bring our temperatures up, as we could see many daytime highs in our area increase to the low 100s on Wednesday.
As we settle into our Wednesday evening, the winds of change will start cranking up.
An large-scale upper level disturbance will invade much of the West, and bring up to 3 days of breezy to windy conditions to our area.
As of right now, the National Weather Service has a Wind Advisory set for Western Imperial County (near Ocotillo) from 3 pm on Wednesday to midnight on Thursday.
Area winds from Wednesday to Friday could top off between 25 to 35 miles per hour.
This wind event will also bring significant cooling to the Desert Southwest, as daytime high temperatures could fall to the mid 80s from Friday to Saturday.
