Gap is eliminating some jobs

(KYMA, KECY/CNN) - Gap is eliminating about 500 corporate jobs.

This comes after the retailer reported its sliding sales at its other brand, old navy.

A person familiar with the situation says the cuts include layoffs and eliminating open positions in its New York, San Francisco, and Asia offices.

The wall street journal reports the layoffs have already started.

Meanwhile --- gap is still searching for a permanent leader... After its c-e-o stepped down in July.
