K9 OPS Foundation donates $1,500 to San Luis Police Department K-9 Unit

SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The San Luis Police Department (SLPD) received a $1,500 donation from the K9 Officer Partner Support (OPS) Foundation.

The non-profit provides support to local K-9 Units to better meet their equipment and training needs.

They say their mission is to make Yuma County safer by providing financial resources and community education for local law enforcement agencies.

The police department says the funds will go towards new equipment, training, and veterinarian expenses.

Herb Townsend, a Director at K9 OPS Foundation, says "We pick up those costs and fees that are not budgeted by the city and it's helpful for the K-9 and the public."

Damian Miller, a SLPD Lieutenant, adds "The more training, the more equipment, the better we're going to be able to perform and the better the canines will perform as well."

The K9 OPS Foundation will be presenting a donation to the Wellton Police Department next.
