Agents arrest four US citizens in possession of illegal drugs
Four people arrested in two separate incidents
INDIO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection say agents have arrested a group people who tried to smuggle illegal drugs through the Highway 86 checkpoint.
In one incident on Saturday at about 2:05 p.m., a Border Patrol K-9 team investigated a Dodge Durango and found a nightstand with a fake compartment to hide illegal drugs.
Within the compartment were 10 packages of meth with an estimated street value of $244,140.
The 29-year-old driver was then arrested.
A second incident happened on Sunday at about 4 p.m. where agents stopped a Honda Accord on Interstate 10 and Golf Center Parkway.
Agents discovered a large bag holding several bundles of fentanyl and cocaine.
Three people within the Honda Accord were arrested for possession of illegal drugs.
