Justice Patricia Guerrero gets sworn in by Governor Gavin Newsom

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - California Governor Gavin Newsom swore in Justice Patricia Guerrero for the Supreme Court on Monday, March 28.

"I will remember that others have paved the way. Like Justice McConnell who has been a trailblazer for so many of us here in the room. In addition, I will remember that we have an obligation as stated to continue that work. To hopefully serve as role models to others and to bring up the next generation of leaders," began Justice Guerrero.

Justice Guerrero is also making history as the first Latina to be sworn into the California Supreme Court.

"This is not just about firsts this is about the best. Best in class. Hard work, grit, determination. Stepping in, stepping up, recognizing it's not just about you but its about your family it's about your community, it’s about your history and the history you want to make."
