18th Annual Rib Cook-Off and Vintage Car Show held at Yuma Catholic High School

Event came back for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, featuring over 22 teams battling it out for title of Best Ribs - 13 On Your Side's Luis Lopez reporting

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma Catholic High School brought together two of everybody's favorite things today, classic cars and Barbecue. The school held its 18th Annual Rib Cook-Off and Vintage Car Show.

22 different teams battled it out for the title of Best Ribs. Over on the football field, there were a ton of classic cars on display.

Yuma Catholic's head football coach Rhett Stallworth was among those who participated in the cook-off. He says that seeing so many people come out was a welcome sight.

“Well, I mean, it's great that you know we’re raising money for the school, for kids that attend our school and at the end of the day, its also just such a great event, to see everybody come together in the community and have a good time and eat and just have a little fellowship together,” Stallworth shared.

The event was created in honor of Rachel Determan, a teen who lost her battle to cancer in 2008. Determan was 13-years old at the time.
