Border Patrol rescues man left behind by his group
OCOTILLO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Border Patrol agents rescued a man in the Jacumba Wilderness after his group left him behind.
U.S. Border Patrol said the incident happened last Thursday around 3:20 a.m. Agents said they received a phone call from the dispatch regarding an illegally crossed man seeking help. The man said he has left behind a few days ago and was lost in the mountains in need of water.
After five hours, agents found the man using GPS coordinates provided by the man's cellphone. They say he didn't need any medical attention. Instead, agents took him into the processing center and later sent him back to Mexico.
Since October 2020, agents have rescued 113 individuals lost or in distress.
