Hazmat incident near White House, later deemed “non-hazardous”

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - The Secret Service located an unknown item on the White House complex on Sunday.

The discovery prompted local roads in the nation's capitol to be briefly shut down near the White House.

The White House grounds were also evacuated as a result.

D.C. Fire and EMS responded to evaluate the item. The item in question was later deemed "non-hazardous," and road closures were lifted.
