Two people injured and a suspect dead following Kenosha shooting

KENOSHA, Wisc. (NBC) - At least two people were injured and a suspect is dead following a shooting in a Wisconsin neighborhood.

Police say they responded to the scene just after 9:00pm Central time for an active shooter.

When they arrived, they immediately took on gunfire.

Those officers returned fire and gained access to the home because there was a report of shooting victims or hostages inside.

They found two people with gunshot wounds, and medical personnel took them to a nearby hospital.

"One [is] in critical condition [while] the other [is] in serious condition," said Lt. Joseph Nosalik.

Authorities also say the shooter is dead.

The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time.
