Fans celebrate Pelé upon news that he was in palliative care

DOHA, Qatar (NBC) - World Cup fans celebrate Brazil's former Minister of Sports, Pelé, on Saturday.

For further context, this comes after fans discovered news of his hospitalization.

In palliative care, doctors treated Pelé for symptoms such as pain and shortness of breath.

However, medical reports say is now responding well to the treatments.

Hospitalized since Tuesday, doctors admitted Pelé to re-evaluate his cancer treatment, but later diagnosed him with a respiratory infection.

Furthermore, Pelé made an Instagram post, thanking his supporters for the positive messages he had received.

Pelé helped Brazil win the 1958, 1962 and 1970 World Cups, and he remains the team's all-time leading scorer.

Brazilian fans also spoke at the FIFA Fan Festival, and described Pelé as a 'leader' and 'the best'.
