Household chores may lower risk of heart disease
(KYMA, KECY/CNN) - Getting those household chores may sound boring but a big reason to do them is to help lower the risk of heart disease.
The Journal of the American Heart Association conducted a new study regarding chores.
"Our study shows that just about any movement counts," explained the study's author Steve Nguyen.
The study had UC San Diego monitor the physical activity of older women and found movement from washing dishes, vacuuming and cooking were a factor in lowering heart disease risk.
"Any house work that we do working in the kitchen, gardening, sort of all sorts of daily living activities," continued Nguyen.
Risk of heart disease fell by 43% in those who did their household chores, as well as a 30% lower risk of stroke.
