Main Library hosts Secret Code Friendship Bracelet event

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma County Main Library hosted a Secret Code Friendship Bracelet event Saturday afternoon.

This was to help teach kids binary code and morse code by having them write a secret message on a bracelets.

The event took place at 3:00pm and ran until 4:00pm.

The Teen and Youth Services Librarian Elia Juarez explained the importance of the event.

"I think, anytime that kids get to come together and make new friends, and anything that's free is always a bonus right now, with the economy being what it is, so we like to be a place to meet new people, a place, and a place where you can be a little creative," Juarez spoke.

This event is part of the library's summer reading program, with the theme for this year being friendship. Not only that, the tagline for this year's program is: "All Together Now." The program will integrate friendship and togetherness with learning and science.

13 On Your Side Anchor Laura Aronson got to make a bracelet.
