Yuma County Library hosts fourth S.T.E.A.M. Social

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma County Main Library hosted a S.T.E.A.M. social event Saturday. S.T.E.A.M. stands for Science, Technology, Electronics, Arts and Math.

The event started at 11:00am and is a once a month program for all ages. This is the fourth time the library hosted a S.T.E.A.M. social.

The Teen and Youth Services Librarian Elia Juarez says this event is to help kids learn.

"It's a great way to keep kids' brains fresh during the summer, so it's, right now, a part of our summer reading program. It gives people a chance to look at science, technology, engineering in a different way because you may not realize that a lot of the toys your kids may already want to play with are the teaching them great science and technology concepts, and you might not realize that," Juarez spoke.

There were a variety of stations for attendees such as playing with LEGOs, building self-driving vehicles, and other steam related projects.

The main library will have another event coming up next Friday at 10:30am.
