YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) — The Arizona Western College Police Department (AWCPD) was awarded a $9,594 grant in October 2021 from the Arizona Governor's Office for Highway Safety.

The funding will go to a breath analyzer machine to calculate a person's blood alcohol content, the Intoxilyzer 9000.

The Intoxilyzer 9000 will be used by AWCPD to further push its initiative of combatting impaired driving.

The AWC Law Enforcement will utilize the breath analyzer machine in the training new police officers attending the academy.
