Yuma County Board of Supervisors request abatement for zoning violations


YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma County Board of Supervisors are requesting an abatement for a property by the intersection of Rancho Drive and Shadow Ave.

The abatement is for zoning violations such as junk in the residence.

According to Carlos Gonzalez, the County Senior Deputy Zoning Inspector, the owner of the property was looking at two cases where the hearings and serving of violations were first started in the middle of last year for one case and the other was started back in 2020.

"This is one of the violations that we are seeking to abate in this case the structure, the shade structure without a permit and trailer with junk, inoperable vehicles," Gonzalez shared.

Gonzalez said there were many attempts from the county, hoping the owner would clean up their property.

"The hearing was conducted August 6th with two subsequent hearings, closing October 1st the defendent was not present at any of these hearings," Gonzalez added.

The cases will be referred to the county attorney's office for abatement.
