United Dreams continues Toy Drive
Taco Monster hosted the United Dreams Toy Drive
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Friends of the community donated toys for the less fortunate and children with special needs.
The United Dreams Toy Drive event occurred at Taco Monster restaurant on Sunday, December 12th, from 12:00pm to 4:00pm.
"We have a couple of car clubs that have come out and supported us already like the Marlo's Car Club. Other organizations have showed up and dropped off toys for this event," United Dreams Sgt. Jesus Alvarez spoke.
In addition, the toy drive partnered with MI-KIDS, a mental health organization for children and families.
United Dreams collected nearly 40 toys within the first hour by United Dreams, and toys then went to MI-KIDS.
As a matter of fact, one child reflects on what the holiday means to her.
"I like Christmas because I get to spend time with my family," said Santa's helper Daniella Mendez.
For this reason, Daniella and her little sister, Amelia, are helping out at the event for the first time.
"Kids that have special needs that come here, and after that sometimes will go to their house to surprise them with Santa Claus," Daniella added.
