New affordable housing grand opening in El Centro
EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA,KECY)- The City of El Centro had a grand opening for new affordable housing on Tuesday.
Jacaranda Gardens is a 96-unit apartment complex located on Waterman and Lincoln Avenues, across the street from the El Centro Fire Station Number 3.
El Centro Mayor Sylvia Marroquin says more than a thousand residents applied for the affordable housing, but for those who are on the waiting list, there is hope.
"Jacaranda will then soon begin development of another complex right next door to the south of Jacaranda, and when all is set and done, we will have approximately 2000 units available for residents here in the City of El Centro," Marroquin explained.
Jacaranda Gardens will provide a community center, including services for children.
Residents will start moving in next week.
