Low rider cruising ban lifted in California
IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - A new California law now allows low riders to cruise across the Golden State including Imperial County.
Governor Gavin Newsom signed Assembly Bill 436 into law ending the decade-long ban on low-rider cruising.
One local low-rider club named "Impressions" from El Centro said it hopes the end of the ban brings the low-rider community together as well as new clubs to the Valley.
They say it was hard to deal with the ban.
“I could see the frustration, you know. When I would see videos on YouTube, you know, the San Diego people and the culture there. They had to do it without you knowing anybody else knowing where they would be hanging out and when it was lifted it was like my god it was a revival to place you know cars everywhere everybody cruising you know coming together as one like I mentioned earlier it’s a good thing," said Alfredo Juarez, a Brawley resident.
The Mothers and Men Against Gangs Coalition along with Streetwise Car Club Imperial Valley invite the locals to bring their low-riders on Saturday, Jan. 6 to celebrate this milestone.
