More than 53,000 people between 40 and 49 years can now get the COVID vaccine in Mexicali

MEXICALI, B.C. (KYMA, KECY) - Mexicali residents between the ages of 40 and 49 years old can now receive the COVID vaccine.

Mexicali is the first city in Baja California, to offer Pfizer vaccines for this specific age group. As a result, more than 53,000 residents in this age group have now received their first dose. However, health officials continue to wait to receive another COVID vaccine shipment from Astra Zeneca.

Residents can continue to receive their vaccines in shopping malls. Officials will extend their hours this weekend to make sure anyone interested in the vaccine gets one.
