Rose Parade practices before Monday rollout
PASADENA, Calif. (NBC) - We are just hours away from the 134th Annual Tournament of Roses Parade.
Dazzling floats, adorned with thousands of flowers, are slowly making their way through the streets of Pasadena.
They'll be taking their position in the parade line-up for their five-mile journey down Colorado Boulevard on Monday.
Although the Rose Parade is a New Year's Day tradition, the event starts on Monday. This is in keeping with another tradition: Never holding the parade on a Sunday.
In addition to the floats, the parade will also feature marching bands and equestrian units.
By and large, the parade's theme is "Turning the Corner" with former Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords serving as the Grand Marshal.
The Rose Parade will air live on NBC starting at 11:00am Eastern time.
