Shooting leaves one dead in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter
Four others injured - none critically
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KYMA, KEYC) - A gunman shot and killed one person and wounded four others is an attack Thursday night in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter.
Witnesses say the gunfire started outside a hotel. They say the shooter killed one man before walking up the street, getting into a confrontation with another group of men. They say that's when he opened fire a second time.
"Preliminarily, that's what we're being told, that he was bumping into people, kind of verbally picking fights with them, that he was the aggressor in the confrontation up at the next block." said Lt. Andra Bower, a San Diego homicide detective.
Bowers said bystanders helped officers make the arrest.
"There were a lot of witnesses around that did follow and actually contacted the male, I believe there was a struggle when an officer caught up. Because, they're kind of following this path of 'he went that way' sort of stuff."
Police haven't released the accused gunman's name yet. They say they still don't have a motive for the shooting.
